About the breed
The miniature horse world brings together people from
all over the globe, united by a shared passion
– and above all, the joy of working with these remarkable horses.

American Miniature Horses are admired for their beauty, versatility, and wonderful personalities. Though small in size, they should represent a full-sized horse in perfect miniature proportions.
The breed has roots in Europe, where small horses were highly valued, but it was in the United States that dedicated breeders developed the modern type and established today’s standards. The American Miniature Horse Association (AMHA), founded in 1978, continues to promote the breed worldwide.
According to the breed standard, the American Miniature Horse should be refined, balanced, and elegant, with correct conformation, expressive eyes, a well-set neck, and athletic movement. They should appear as true horses in miniature form, never pony-like.
Despite their size, these horses are highly versatile and compete in halter, driving, liberty, obstacle, jumping, and many other disciplines. Their intelligence and kind temperament also make them excellent companions.
The American Miniature Horse combines beauty, ability, and character in a small but remarkable package.
